My name is Gabriel Pérez, and Monchies Creations is the newest chapter in a life that has already taken many unexpected turns.

For 26 years, I dedicated my heart to education — teaching, leading schools, mentoring students, and helping families. I’ve been blessed to carry the Olympic torch, earn multiple advanced degrees, and be recognized by my community, but my greatest pride has always been in shaping the lives of young people.

After retiring, life pushed me into a season of reflection. I went through loss, heartbreak, and a few difficult endings — including the end of a relationship that taught me more than it took. But endings have a strange way of handing you a blueprint for reinvention.

It was in that space of rebuilding that I returned to the things that grounded me:
woodworking, craftsmanship, creativity, and making things with my hands.

Inspired by the men who shaped me — my father, godfather, and grandfathers — I rediscovered the peace of sawdust, the focus of handwork, and the joy of turning raw material into something meaningful. What started as therapy became passion. What became passion became a business. And that’s how Monchies Studios was born.

Today, I design and build handcrafted pieces with intention — stove covers, cutting boards, signs, keepsakes, and one-of-a-kind builds. Every piece carries a story of resilience, precision, and heart.
